Ortho Evra birth control patch label change

The approved a label change to Johnson & Johnson’s Ortho Evra patch on January 18, 2008. The patch has been known to cause which can lead to pulmonary embolism and death. The label change comes after testing revealed women on the patch between the ages of 15-44 are at a higher risk for pulmonary embolism.

Ohio Supreme Court upholds law that puts cap on personal injury damages

In a 5-2 decision, the Ohio Supreme Court Thursday morning upheld the constitutionality of a 2004 law capping damages for pain, suffering, and other non-economic claims in personal injury and other lawsuits.

Ortho Evra lawsuit settled for $1.25m as J&J tries to avoid public trials

Ortho Evra manufacturer, Johnson & Johnson, recently settled a lawsuit with the family of a 14-year-old girl killed by the defective patch. The case is just one of many Ortho Evra lawsuits settled by Johnson & Johnson prior to going trial.

Johnson & Johnson agreed to pay $1.25 million to settle a lawsuit over the death of a 14-year-old girl who used the company’s Ortho Evra birth-control patch, according to court records.
